Today we had cca and err we finally came to the handing down of leadership process. So today the sec 4 seniors interviewed us sec 3s and err needless to say, it was rather nerve-wracking. I wasnt quite expecting this cause even though I knew that the second batch of graduated sec 4s from our cca had their selection process through interviews but my current/third batch of sec 4s (not yet graduated) from our cca had theirs through a voting system. So I was kind of like er expecting that you know, ours would be in a voting kind of a system. Either way, I wasnt interested to be in the exco committee.
But I guess pretty much everyone wanted me to be part of the exco committee. They all have these high expectations of me and I'm just there like well you dont know me enough to be able to judge that I have the capability to lead the cca WELL. Key word in caps.
So when my first level mate went, the tension was high. Like I wont even lie. It was kind of like waiting for our turn to be slaughtered. Or embarrassed. Either way, it wasnt a situation you would like to put yourself in. We were quiet and I dont want to admit this but we were kinda calm? Yea a first for us but it was horrid. Just waiting there. When she came out she gestured for me to go next. "I picked you next." She says. Wow wow. Fantastic.
When I went into the room (it was kind of like our cca room though it wasnt officially named), my sec 4 seniors were all like in a semi circle like position and then there's this chair just like isolated. And its not just seniors from the exco team but you have like about 8-9 seniors staring at you. Oh 9-10 if you add the teacher at the back. The atmosphere was damn tense. I was feeling uncomfortable and they know it. And let the interview begin.
I would say it was easy at first. They just start by asking our interests, if we have other commitments, which do we prioritise more: studies or cca. Stuff like that. If I'm confident with public speaking. Etc etc. Then it got harder. Like what. What is one problem you think our cca faces and suggests a solution. They are probably trying to test my analytical skills here but if you dont already know, my analytical skills are close to non existence and whatup with the stressful atmosphere. With like 10 pairs of eyes staring at you. Scratch that. Twenty eyes staring at you. Eww. Interviews are never fun.
Then the questions just got harder and harder. But you see, the thing here about our level is that most of us actually almost all of us have zero or little interest in leadership roles. We just want to be part of the cca. We are satisfied with what we are now. And guess what, I suppose the sec 4s knew it and were trying to see if they could rope in one of our juniors into the exco committee. Cause like their question was Can you recommend any level 2 or level 3 student? And I of course recommended a level 3 like duh isnt this our reign now? Haha I recommended my first level mate. But then seniors proceeded to ask me about level 2s. So I just said one of them but I did add that I wasnt really close to them but from what I can tell during one of my experience with one of the juniors. Seriously in my brain I was just like seriously why you talking about level 2s even. To be honest, even though my level and I, no matter how much we hate leadership, there's no way we are ever going to let our juniors lead during our reign. Like whatup its like a dig to my pride and whatever else you call that. You know, I would rather be President (even though I was totally against it) than to have my junior be. Heck I wouldnt even allow my junior to take a small role like the treasurer. Heck, the idea alone is ridiculous enough. Gosh.
But the interview continues. It was damn tense and I would admit half of it goes to the teacher behind even though shes practically not doing anything. Actually technically, she is listening. And that's why the interview has to be kept formal. Towards the question that asked one problem and one solution that one^^, I suggested a flyer or a souvenir and one of senior A was like wont flyers just be thrown around and it's kind of hypocritical that we are from the Environment Club. In normal circumstances, I would have rolled my eyes at her and said fine souvenir then. But no we are in an interview where its formal and theres a teacher. So I had to very politely very formally reply oh let's do the souvenir then.
Ew gosh. Interviews are horrible. I swear, I really hope we can interview our juniors next year. Hehe make them experience what we felt. Muahahahahhaha.
By the way, on a side note, we worked in the garden today. And it was real tiring work but I would swear, that gardening is actually secretly fun and it bonds us together. We had to work with the sec 1s which feel like a big generation gap even though it was only a two year age gap. It was pretty awkward but we tried to hype things up a little. Especially me during the flipping of the compost bins. Oh and by the way pictures of "butterflies mating". I know I'm totally invading into their privacy but whatup it's not like they had any to start with in the first place. Beautiful. Seeing nature take its course in our very own garden. The garden we tend to. Knowing new life is created. It's amazing.
8 pictures to sum it up: (They are almost similar though lol) But i just wanted a nice deep caption.
