Blog Post #19
Blog Post #19
I have been meaning to write this blog post for a while already, like at the start of July when I had my sports day heats. I was supposed to run 800m and on my way to report my attendance, one of my classmates asked me to replace her for 400m. I was kinda holding back because the sequencing of events was 400m sprint then followed up next is 800m sprint. So because I wasnt an athlete and I obviously am not used to sprinting, much less do two sprints back to back, I was about to reject. But then, there was no one else she could ask for help and besides, if she doesnt report her attendance, our house could lose points. Or maybe I was just too nice. So I agreed. And I swear I regretted my decision. After seeing the first half of my competitors compete, I was like woah, I dont stand any chance at all. My only goal is to ensure that I'm not last. And that was exactly what I did, sprinted fast enough to ensure that I'm not the last. And when it came to 800m, I didnt care anymore. But me and my stupid pride ensured that I was not to be last, so I ran fast enough to and tried to maintain my position as second last. Them peeps from track and field are damn fast! My timing was 01:33.78 for 400m (7th place) (11 participants) and 04:18.65 for 800m (12th place) (13 participants). Not really impressive but I guess what I took away from heats this year was that regardless of whatever, you just gotta finish the race. When the first three positions are already fixed, then all you have left to do is to complete the race. Even if you are burning tired and you cant feel your feet, it doesnt even matter anymore, nobody cares about the positions anymore, so long as you finish the race, achieve your personal best. And I guess I'm proud of myself for at least completing the damn race.
Just this Tuesday, we received our lego set from Singapore, which I was extremely extremely excited for, since I have never actually own my own lego set. This lego set contains lego pieces to build three different iconic Singapore buildings with three varying levels of difficulties. Here are my creations:
This is the Gardens by the Bay. And I had the lego girl and guy to sit on the supertrees to show that together, we can strive to greater heights, hence the hand action.
For this one, I was trying to show that people are amazed at the rate Singapore is growing. From a fishing village to an urban metropolis in just 50 years.
This one is just showing how Garden by the Bays is now a tourist attraction and people like taking pictures with the supertrees in the backdrop.
This one was just a random fun one where the guy is throwing stuff across the bridge and the girl is trying to dodge it.
This one was to promote racial and religious harmony where races/religions do not fight among one another, but coexist in peace. The two lego figures are shaking hands. A couple of my friends pointed out that they are of the same skin colour but whatever. They could be of different religions.
Haha this has no meaning whatsoever. And I'm so glad Singapore has given this lego set to us students. I will treasure mine!

On the other hand, today was sports day and my house won champions!!! At least I didnt sprint the race for nothing; at least I didnt have to deal with the aftermath (muscle ache for at least an entire week) for nothing. We won champions! That's about it.
Thanks for reading and bye!
