Blog Post #20
Blog Post #20
Just these first two days of the week, it has been raining in the morning. On Monday morning, the rain was so heavy my skirt and shoes were totally soaked by the time I reached school. On Tuesday morning, the rain was light: heavier than a drizzle but lighter than a downpour. If you forgot to bring your umbrella, it's okay, you would have survived the rain without asking to share an umbrella with someone. So since I had an umbrella, I opened it and walked to school. Then, there was this girl behind me who wanted to cut in front of me. I suppose it was a junior. When she tried to walk beside me, I noticed that she had no umbrella so I kind of like sheltered her as she cuts in front of me. But I didnt know why, I didnt bother to ask if she wanted to share my umbrella. Maybe I was afraid that the umbrella was too small for us to share and I'm bound to get wet. Or maybe I was just too selfish. Or I didnt think it was necessary for me to ask her. Then, I saw this ex classmate of mine, who holds the position of chairperson of the peer support board, from a distance. And I wasnt sure why but I enacted and imagined this scene happening: The girl walking ahead and this chairperson comes to walk beside me and chairperson would ask me,"hey do you think that girl will want to share an umbrella?" and I would lie and say that I have asked her already and she rejected me. Thinking of this scene, I walked forward slowly. Finally, chairperson crosses the road to my path. She stopped in front of us and for a moment, I smiled to her because I thought she saw me and therefore stopped. But her attention was not on me. It was on the girl in front. When the girl reached, chairperson asked if she wanted to share the umbrella with her and the girl nodded. So they huddled under the umbrella together and walked the remaining road to school. And from afar, I noticed that her umbrella was smaller than mine.
